Ecosia is a non-profit search engine that is taking positive action for the planet. While they embrace sustainability and transparency across the board, Ecosia’s main focus is tree planting. Our collaboration in 2020 was about celebrating the fact that they had planted a million trees since starting their initiative.

The power of a single tree

With such an important message to spread, we wanted the AR experience to be both educational and shareable. We came up with two experiences – one world mode experience that made a growing tree appear anywhere in the user’s environment and a more playful selfie mode experience that transformed the user’s face into a bark of tree, complete with roots and leaves as hair. The intricacy of our production gave this experience a realistic, impressive look – which resulted in high engagement.
